Corrections policy

Accuracy is our most basic responsibility. We know we can still make mistakes, and we correct them openly.

How we correct errors

  • Errors that change the meaning of a story (a wrong name, date, figure or place, or misreported information) are corrected as soon as we notice them. A "Correction" note is added at the end of the story, with the date and what was changed.
  • Minor errors that do not change the meaning, such as typos, are fixed without a note.
  • If a story turns out to be wrong as a whole, it is taken down and search engines are notified.
  • Developing stories are updated as new information comes in; these updates are not corrections.

Reporting an error

If you think one of our stories contains an error, send us the link and a short description of the problem through our contact page. We review every report and make justified corrections as quickly as possible.

Right of reply

People and organisations named in our stories may request a reply or correction, including under Turkish press law (Laws No. 5187 and 5651). Please send these requests through our contact page.
