Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Haber Nexus processes when you use the English edition, why we process it and what choices you have. Haber Nexus is published from Türkiye; the publisher responsible for your data (the data controller) is listed on our imprint (Künye) page. Our Turkish-language notice under Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 is available on the KVKK page.

Reading without an account

  • Technical data: like any website, our servers receive your IP address, browser details and the pages you request. We use this to deliver the site, keep it secure and investigate errors.
  • Reactions: if you react to a story, an anonymous visitor identifier is stored in a cookie so that each visitor is counted once.
  • Personalisation (only with your consent): the stories you open are remembered on your device to suggest stories and let you continue reading.
  • Statistics and advertising (only where enabled and, for statistics and personalised ads, only with your consent): see our cookie policy.

If you create an account

  • Your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), or the profile details shared by Google if you sign in with Google.
  • Content and activity you choose to create: comments, saved stories, reading history, reactions and support messages.
  • Your settings, such as newsletter and notification preferences.

You can change these settings or delete your account at any time from your profile. Deleting your account removes your personal data, except where we must keep it to meet a legal obligation.

Newsletters and notifications

If you subscribe to a newsletter we use your email address only to send it; every email contains an unsubscribe link. If you allow browser notifications, your browser's notification address is stored so we can send them; you can turn notifications off in your browser at any time.

Service providers

We use service providers to run the site, for example for hosting and content delivery, database and caching, email delivery, error tracking, sign-in with Google and, where enabled, Google Analytics and Google AdSense. Some of these providers process data outside Türkiye. They may only process data on our behalf and for these purposes.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, object to its processing or withdraw your consent at any time. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the rights given to you by the GDPR, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise your rights, contact us through our contact page.

Changes

We will update this page when the way we process data changes.
